This code has never been used before, so there shouldn't be any issue with needing to reassign it from old hardware to new hardware.
There's no possible way this product key is not valid, but I finally gave up and decided I would use the product key from another unopened copy of Windows 10 Pro that I have. It's not a character-confusion issue (for example, between a B and an 8), because the product code is printed quite clearly on the little card that came with Windows 10 Pro. I just spoke with another MS technician who informed that that product key that I'm 100% certain was used on my old build is invalid. That's what I would like to have happen.Īttempting to activate with the correct key fails, so I went through the callback procedure with MS again. I understand that MS still has the product key tied to the old hardware, and they would need to clear that somehow before the product key could be used with my new hardware. The old build has been removed from the network and I have run "slmgr /upk" as administrator to clear the product key from that system. I then located my correct Windows 10 Pro product key from my previous computer build. She informed me it was a bogus or dummy key, not my real product key. I tried it several times and eventually had a MS support technician call me as part of the activation troubleshooting. I unfortunately messed up and initially tried the wrong product key. My goal was to move my Windows 10 Pro license from my previous self-built computer to my new one. My main question is whether it's possible to be blocked from activating Windows 10 after too many failed attempts? I'm about at my wits end and I'm hoping someone here can help. I'm trying to activate Windows 10 Pro on a new computer I just built.
